My mobile rang,it wasn't for me it was my daughter's friend asking for her. They are both five.My daughter takes the mobile to the next room and paces as she talks to her friend.A certain word catches our attention so us (my husband and me) and our friends in the living room start eavesdropping. Her friend says something about wanting to get married to a certain boy in their class (kg2,they are),when she grows up.My daughter says it's a bad idea!! she argues:But Amer is your mom's cousin and if you marry a close relative you will have sick kids!!!!
Silence in the living room.!!

ya jameed true..and the result..well you know better ,go to an evening in Madaba or Karak and see the reuslt of inter-family marriages.I feel bad saying that but people are still doing that and kids are still suffering. But that's all right ,you know for the land and property to stay within the family, you don't want any starngers to take over!!
It took me till I was 6 or 7 to learn to use the telephone.. or let's say, to become courageous enough to talk to my friend's paretns.
The new generation is more exposed to technology..
...and obviously better aware of family marriages! I was happy to read your story. A good number of my relatives wear hearing aids!
By the way, your blog title, is the name of my column in OnCampus magazine! what a coincidence! :)
I agree with sabri you certainly have a smart kid and i am sure you were proud when you overheard what she said :)
Just wondering who told her that? :P
