Salam, I understand your frustration .. as I get that all the time too ..
Having said that .. I agree with Anonymous that it is a compliment, however; it is not so casual that some random acquaintance like this secretary can say it and get away with it .. if it came from a closer person; it would be understandable .. but like this? sho ya3ny? bet7'afef dam 7adretha?
Ba3den how would a guy feel if he got a compliment of this nature .. like saying ya ba6 or ya 2o6 .. I don't think they would like that, would they??
anonymous, even if it is a term of endearment,I don't want it coming from a total stranger, there is or at least supposed to be a certain degree of formality when it comes to professional practice, but I see what you mean!
And yes,Mohammed, the term ba66a does happen tp pop up often in egyptian movies and series, either as a name or endearment!
I know Khalida isn't it the worst.Would you address a total stranger with any of that crap?
Khasseh?Ammar?Glad I never heard that one!
leilouta..ba66a as a duck and nothing but a duck!imagine!
that's totally unprofessional, but funny!
i think women are sensitive of the word "battah"; my wife tends to change personalities when she hears it. but to get the full effect of the word, it should preceded by "eeeeeish yaaaa"
I think the word in itself is cute, and I adored it until some girls I do not know at college called me that as I walked by in some tarty sandals, that made me pose so many questions, ah well, I was flattered all the same. But I would not accept it from a perfect stranger on the phone.
lol, I wouldnt mind being called that from someone I know, but a random secretary that I hardly know. hmmm
Yemkin mshabha sotek 3a 7ada:p
jameed.aish ya ba66a and shoo hal ta3jeh to me and obviously don't qualify as flirting ,we're bound to be sensitive about it!
Tololy, cute, yes for a 2 year old little girl in a fluffy pink dress and really chubby cheeks!
Ohoud,Maybe if I like the book from the book club after I finish it I will have known you enough to say thanks for the suggestion ya ba66a!!haha
"!and obviously to your wife "that was missing from my comment
a3sabek ya ba66ah :-)
I think it was a compliment, who knows.
Ba66a ia nice complement & in my 3ammi-native dictionary this word being said only to a beautiful girl with a meduim weight (Malyaneh) only. Sorry salam, i am only trying to tell exactly when this word being said in our arabic society. I agree with you not to accept it from a stranger at all.
kollo wala za3alek ya ba66a.....ba3dein shoo ya3nee fee nas isem 3iyalha 5aroof wa jidi wa halomma jarra....7abkat 3ala ba66a ya3nee...hada bas ta7abbob....
ya3nee a7san yi7kolek ya dabdoob...
So uncool...
This is very unprofessional in my point of view. Even if meant as a compliment, this is not something to say to someone in a work environment...

ba66a is a compliment.
Now don't let Hajj Mitwali's series stereotype the lingo in your head.
You should see it from a guy's perspective...truly complimental!
