It's not that I hated them or anything, but truth to be told, I wasn't thrilled about having them either.
My kids got them as a reward for their good behavior, when they were staying with my family for a few days while we were in Bangkok. That was in October, the poor things hardly survived four months at our place.
I ignored cleaning their bowl for a few days and when I finally had time yesterday and decided to do it, the water was full of stuff and the shells and pebbles I have in that bowl were sort of slippery, I felt bad about ignoring them this week so I decided to really clean the bowl and shells:
I put some clorox in there, yes yes, I know!
Well, it's not like the fish were in the tank when I poured the clorox, and I did rinse them for at least ten minutes under running water, but it was pretty stupid nonetheless. We came back in the evening to find them on the surfcae grasping their last breaths.
Zaido insisted that his fish was OK while Raya's was Kharbaneh!
So I did not do anything about them till this morning when they were both actually gone.I woke up before the kids and made sure I 'd flush the toilet more than once so none of them would surface up when the kids need to go!!
That would be ugly..
I tried convincing myself that fish have a small life expectancy anyways, but that's just not right. I just checked and they could live up to 15 years..
How bad do I feel now? very!
I was able to distract the kids from asking about details of their loss in the morning, but God knows how it will go after they come back from school.

said:Hi Salam,
It is very normal to have deaths among fish. We had a number of "fish" deaths along this year.. There is big demand as well.. so whenever a fish dies, three are being brought back home. This is endless!
So, dont worry! you are not a terrorist or something... !
People are being killed everywhere.

said:Ladies, I can not tell you how relieved reading this and the comments on Kinzi's post made me feel, such a relief to know I am not the only one. To me this only sounded like negligence on my part, the burden of guilt was just too much:)honestly, I felt that maybe on some hidden level I really did want them dead..And they did actually haunt me for the last two days, whenever I'm in the kids bathroom I feel they're gonna be back to get back at me:( stupid no?but hearing how many loving caring mothers and females have been there and done that, well that's just a big relief!Tahank you all and sorry for all the kids losses...niyahahah!!

said:oh my God you flushed the fish :)... atleast bury them in a plant pot .. sorry to hear so ...

Salaam salam,:P
dont worry about that...when i was young i used to get fishes whenever i go to my great grand auntie's house..and they never last longer then 2weeks.
call it negligance..or their inability to fit into thenew environment.
Fishes are meant for the open sea/river/pond.
someone that i know actually pay a company a large sum of money permonth to have sea water delivered to his aquarium, and to make it as real-sea environment as possible.
take it easy...
i did and Kill 6 before 15 days so it's normal
