:: Art w Aish ?!?!

A new bookshop just opened in a fancy department store in Amman. The following took place yesterday:

-Me:  Excuse me miss, do you have a section for Art and Architectire?
-Miss behind counter:  A section "la aish?"
-Me:  Art and Architecture.
-Miss behind counter: Art w aish?!?
-Me:  R-ki-tek-tsher?
-Miss behind counter: No, we don't!
-Me:  Ghareeb!
-Miss behind counter:  Actually, I don't know, I just handle the cash box, but my friend over there can help you!

My Husband approaches the other employee,

-Husband:  Excuse me, but do you have a section for Art and Architecture?
-Other girl:  No, we don't..or do we? Yes we do..there's a section for Art, but not Architecture,
and it's in this lane, no actually in the one one behind, where was it?
-Me:  Never mind, I think I found it.

The section contains around ten books that are mainly about buildings, design trends and old cities, nothing that qualifies as Architecture, really!

How different are these girls from the ones weighing vegetables in the grocery department downstairs? They have better hairdos..they fit in the fancy bookshop!! Totally!!

Man, those architects are SO snobby about their architecture books. I though architecture books WERE just nice pretty pics about buildings, teehee. YOu should have spelled it for her, that would have been even better, I can see it now. You: A-r-c-h-, Her" Don;t you mean k? Too funny, thanks for the laugh Salam.

Hello Salam.
as a supervisor at Readers, I do admit that we had this problem when we first open the shop.
we gave a training to our employees and the ones who made it are still with us, and still there will be some gaps in the knowladge of books for young Jordanians in general.
so we'll keep-up the good work updating and training our employees.
Next time when you come to the Shop ask for me "Ra'ed" I'll invite you for a cup of coffee in the shop and don't consider it as a bribe, because coffee is for free in our shop anyway.
thank you for your comment.
hope to see you soon in the shop.
